People who contribute to the Air Force Academy Fund at the Sabre Society level lay the foundation for important philanthropic activities at the Academy, like graduate services, fundraising efforts, summer research opportunities, and cadet clubs. These contributions also ensure that the Endowment and the AOG continue to successfully fulfill their missions in support of the Academy.

Harvey LeCato, Class of 1972, shares why he chose to give back to the Academy through his Sabre Society gift:

"Having come from the enlisted ranks, I was so lucky to get into the Academy, and even more fortunate to have graduated. I enlisted in the Air Force in 1966. While home on leave, and hearing that one of my high school classmates was attending the Academy Prep School, I then considered applying to the Air Force Academy. My time at the Academy allowed me to gain an excellent education and to continue to serve my country.

"Now that I am retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service, not a month goes by when my wife and I don't mention our good fortune to have our military pension and health benefits. On top of this, I have the benefit of staying competitive in the defense industry market based on my education, Air Force experience and as an Academy grad. I owe so much to the Academy for my financial security, especially in light of the current state of the economy. It's my honor to give back and provide, in a small way, for the Academy's future!"

Record levels of support in the past year from Sabre Society donors have enabled the Endowment to give significantly more unrestricted funding to the Academy, helping to meet many critical needs.
