Through the Air Force Academy Fund at the Sabre Society level, supporters can help to provide the best possible resources for the Air Force Academy, its cadets, and the graduate community. Captain Daniel "DT" Taylor graduated from the Academy with the Class of 2007, and is currently serving as a cyberspace communications officer for the 721 Mission Support Group at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station. Captain Taylor is one of the youngest graduates giving back to the Academy through the Sabre Society; he shares why:
"My time at the Academy was no cake walk, and I had to work my tail off to graduate with my classmates. I knew, even then, that I did not make it through by myself. The relationships and special connections I had with my classmates, teammates, and squadron got me through the rough patches, and I could not have done it without them. The Sabre Society embodies the support network I experienced as a cadet and as a junior officer in the Air Force. Sabre Society has become an opportunity for me to give back to an organization that helped create that vital connection."
In addition to Captain Taylor's enthusiasm to give back to the Academy through the Sabre Society, he also has a passion for networking and earned a masters degree in Human Relations. Captain Taylor created DoTheDive.com, an innovative social networking site for USAFA alumni to connect with other graduates, as well as a place to find information on career development, social gatherings, and opportunities for both active duty and civilian graduates.
"I believe in the Academy graduate community. The relationships we make at USAFA should not be left at the Terrazzo just because we no longer carry proxy cards. That belief in a close-knit community has led me to establish a business that articulates the significance of our alumni connection and helps graduates connect with fellow leaders of character."
